The Mountain Leader scheme training is designed for people who wish to lead groups in the mountains, hills and moorlands of the UK and Ireland.
It was a great, but tough week, packed full of practical as well as technical actions that tested all sets of skills that are required to lead groups in mountainous areas ; all aspects of security on steep ground, river crossings, night navigation, camp craft and, of course, navigation and leadership.
We met with brave and inspiring people on the course, one of them is Joe, who volunteers for Ogwen Valley, North Wales Mountain Rescue. No need to say how much Joe emphasised on the navigational skills and good judgment ! Phill George, the course provider was another great man to meet !
